The Plumbob Diaries

Besties trip to Granite Falls! Sage and Joanne bundled up to brave the chilly autumn air.

Joanne proved to be a much better fisher than Sage, with one catch to Sage's zero.

Back home, it was out to the garden for Sage. Being an outdoorsy person is hard.

Sage was supposed to be watching Luca after school, but she got so focused on her yoga that she didn't even notice he was suffering with a major headache.

Sage moved into Marion's old room. I didn't love this space for her, but it got the job done.

Ciel liked jogging and boxing in college, so I got the family a treadmill. I added a mod that slows the bodily change rate, because I found that once Ciel and Olive started gaining weight, their bodies changed so quickly. Obviously it's great to have body diversity in-game, but I found the rate of change super unrealistic.

With Joanne otherwise occupied, Sage had to settle for taking Luca to the woods.

Sage found more success at the fishing hole this time around.

Back at home, Sage tried out her meditation stool.

It must have been relaxing because we got this pop-up! Yes, we like Wellness, game.

Marion came over for a family dinner.

Don't think I've forgotten about Sage's scouting!

She is still climbing the ranks. Llamacorn! Incredible.

What's the fun of having a little brother if you can't mess around with him from time-to-time? Even when Mom is sitting right there.

Sage quickly learned that an important part of growing plants is... talking to them? Yeah. They don't make for a great conversation partner.

Even in the rain, the kids love to swing.

I feel like this is out of order but here's a pretty Granite Falls scenery shot.

Ciel and Olive's relationship is still going great. They flirt all the time.

(As of writing this, I recently witnessed something in-game that I did not document because it scarred me for life and it involves one of these two and it was... shocking.)

How is it already Sage's birthday AGAIN?!

Surrounded by her family and her bestie, the transition to young adulthood began.

And a new era means another birthday present from Ciel. This time, it was a knitted green rug to put in Sage's new home.

Next time, we'll see that new home and kick off Sage's life in... Brindleton Bay!

Here she is! Teenaged Sage. I'm not very good at editing my screenshots and I don't do many complex things, so she isn't supposed to be this orange as you'll see in some of the in-game shots.

Sage's generation requirements:
  • master Gardening and Herbalism skills, at least level 5 in Wellness
  • complete Outdoor Enthusiast aspiration
  • live in a rural area
  • make all money through gardening/herbalism (I'm also including beekeeping/grub raising in this)
  • have at least 5 kids with at least 4 different Sims (one must be the Granite Falls Hermit) and never get married
  • traits: vegetarian, non-committal, loves outdoors

Of course Ciel had to give her daughter something special for her bithday!

Since Ciel remembered how good of a time Sage had in Granite Falls, she got her a pack of starter seeds. Sage can start her own garden and feel at one with the Earth.

When Sage went out to the backyard, she found some new planter boxes there, as well. She wasted no time in putting some grapes into the ground.

Sage also put her new yoga mat and meditation seat by her garden for an area of true peace and relaxation.

I'm trying to have my Sims take more selfies/in-game photos to keep and put up on the walls and stuff.

For Spooky Day, Sage dressed up as a Fairy of the Woods or something like that. Fitting, considering she is going to be spending a lot of time in the woods. And it matches her gen color!

Ciel still makes time to tuck her kids in when she gets home from her long shifts at the hospital.

Before heading to Granite Falls for the afternoon, Sage did a quick yoga practice. Surrounded by her blossoming garden and breathing in the fresh autumn air, the routine was really relaxing.

First stop: the ground. There's always time to look at the clouds.

Her Herbalism skill is being honed slowly but surely. She identified 2 plants during this visit.

And she caught some (giant) ladybugs for her collection.

All at once, the rain started and the annoying swarming gnats came out to play.

Ah, the highs and lows of the great outdoors.

Sage and Luca carved matching pumpkins!

Using her newly identified Granite Falls plants, Sage boiled up a sadness-alleviating lotion.

Apparently she has quite the eye for packaging, too.

Olive was upset by the loss of a family member, so she tried Sage's balm on for size. I didn't notice any immediate results, but maybe it takes a while to kick in.

Next time: the back-half of Sage's teen years!

This post is going to be long, bear with me, but there isn't really a good place to break it up and it leads us into the start of generation 4 really well.

Sage is an iconic Scout. Just absolutely shooting up the ranks, much like her mother in the Medical career.

You know who isn't a Scout? Ciel. She took Sage and Marion out to Granite Falls to let Sage explore the outdoors and, well, she set a few logs on fire.

Marion can't believe she has to extinguish a fire in the middle of the woods. She did not sign up for this.

Fire or no fire, there is always time for s'mores and hot dogs.

Oh, yeah, and then Sage herself caught on fire... this trip is going amazingly.

Extinguished but absolutely filthy and loving it, Sage goes out hunting for frogs.

A few hours and no shower later, Sage has moved on to capturing fireflies.

The Granite Falls trip lines up with Summer Fest so Marion asked to have some fireworks.

She had way more success setting them off than Ciel did in her teen years. Remember that?

I swear this is still a Ciel-generation post even though every screenshot is of Sage. OOPS.

While Sage was having the time of her life, Ciel, well, wasn't. She hates being outside! I can relate.

Back home, Sage tries quieting her baby brother. Let's introduce him. His name is Luca, named after Ciel's Uncle Luke who raised her and taught her everything she knows.

While Ciel gets reacclimated to being inside and hangs out with her wife and son, Marion takes Sage to the park. Sage instantly makes a group of friends.

I always forget about skating. It's kind of boring but Marion had fun.

One of the girls in this picture will be Sage's BFF and (I've received this information from the future) will be there when Sage has her first baby!

They truly grow so fast! It's already time for Luca's birthday.

And he instantly hates being a toddler!

Ciel and her almost-level-10-parenting skills know how to make it better, though.

Meanwhile, in Scouts, Sage is still killing it.

I'll admit, playing male Sims is not my favorite thing, especially when they're the youngest and I already have an heir picked out. Sorry, Luca. It's not you, it's me.

Marion made this cute friend!

Sage is working hard on making Joanne her BFF. She's trying so hard, she doesn't even tell Joanne that her hat is not a great fashion choice.

Now it's Sage's turn to skate! There is a rink close to their house.

I got new CC and had to give Marion a new outfit and show her off.

While Sage works on her chores, Ciel teaches Luca how to talk, a very valuable skill.

Another birthday already?! How is this possible! Uncle Luke is there in all of his gray-haired glory to see his namesake age up. And Sage, needing 2 adult friends for her Social Butterfly aspiration, is working hard to keep his attention.

HOORAY!

HOORAY! x2

I definitely thought Full Parent Mode was going to be more than just a moodlet, ya know? Like it'd have new interactions or something. Oh well!

I didn't even show Luca when he became a kid but here's a family portrait update.

And here is an updated look at Ciel as an adult.

Sage is so kind; she offered to help Luca with his project before starting her own. Apparently this kindness really caught their friend by surprise.

Good thing they got these projects in the fall. Cons of having a small house!

I think Ciel got the ability to share emotional burdens from aging up with high empathy or something?

YAY! One of Sage's requirements is to finish this aspiration. Making friends is hard!

You can't see it here, but the monster under the bed is very real. That's what I get for not investing in the special nightlight.

Birthday time! Marion is becoming a young adult! If I wasn't so invested in this challenge, I'd definitely do a spin-off series with her.

With Marion aging up with 3 positive character value traits, Ciel's aspiration is complete and her generation requirements are DONE! Great job, Ciel, it was a joy to follow your story!

It's Sage's turn to blow out the candles and officially become the main character of our pastel story. What will she look like? How will her story unfold? Stay tuned...
