Making Progress | Sul Sul, Sulani! 5

by - July 02, 2019

Previously: Elei confronted a couple of Debbie Downers on the beach and her and Nohea made things official.

Nohea invited Elei over to see where she currently stays, and it just so happens to be with the guy who hit on Elei at the bar and his wife (aka Mele and Alika Kahanaui). That's cool.

These two are always so happy to see each other and it warms my heart every time.

Elei: Wanna know a secret? The dude you live with totally thinks I'm hot.

Put 'em on a beach and, just like that, I'm obsessed with swings. It's just so stinkin' cute!

Moments like this let Elei reflect on how quickly everything has seemingly fell into place for her since moving back to Sulani. Her job, her relationships, her happiness... everything is on the up-and-up.

Speaking of her job, reports are in and, well, you can read it for yourself. Yes! Good job, Elei and fellow conservationists.

After receiving such good news, Elei decided to hang out at one of the many community cook-out gatherings. And sit by herself drinking kava. After I just praised how your relationships are doing so well! Girl.

I genuinely don't know why she looks so mournful all of a sudden. I hyped up all this good news and, nope, Elei just can't cooperate with me.

The next morning, still seemingly glum, Elei is on the lookout for beach trash or treasure. Most likely trash.

Even with improving island conditions, the hard work must continue; it's another day of photographing plants and chasing flocks of seagulls for our girl.

I guess she really, really likes chasing gulls. Whatever makes you smile, I guess?

This purple-eyed man looks up to absolutely no good.

Elei: Excuse me, sir, but did I just see you throw some trash into the water?

Elei: We're working so hard to keep our island clean and I just think it'd be really nice if you, you know, didn't litter!

Well, I guess that conversation didn't end well. These seagulls don't know what's coming.

I can just picture her muttering to herself about that littering jerk as she picks up dozens of plastic bottles. She's getting all this sand under her nails and FOR WHAT!?

How can you be on this beautiful beach, blowing into this beautiful shell, and still look so annoyed?

Elei: No stinkin' mermaids. People still littering. Some paradise, all right.

Great. Ending the day as it began: grumpy. Ah, well. I guess living in paradise doesn't equate to being happy all of the time.

The next morning brought with it torrential rain and, apparently, some blew into the house through all of those open windows and broke Elei's speaker. She had it fixed in no time, though.

Work assignment for the day: analyze some water samples.

It's seemingly going super well.

Or maybe not. A few shattered beakers later, there aren't many results for Elei to analyze. Better luck next time.
