The Baby in the Baby Carriage | Quickover 1.1

by - September 11, 2018

Let me preface this post by saying... I really have no idea what I'm doing! Here begins the alphabet: A. In real time, this baby is now a young adult and I am struggling with how to design this legacy from here on out. I'm sure by the time I get to those posts, I will have it all figured out. Maybe. Or maybe it will be completely different.

I'm really just enjoying learning about this family and, really, I'm still learning the new things that this game has to offer compared to The Sims 2, which I played religiously years ago before our computer broke. I'm also still acquiring expansions and game packs so there is so much new stuff all of the time! It's so fun and immersive and I think that this story will end up where it needs to be.

I'm inspired by my favorite Sims YouTuber, Clare Siobhan. She has created a huge Sims world, starting with her and her real life boyfriend. While the origins of my story differ, I would love to eventually have something like she does: lots of families, lots of stories, so many relationships and connections. I'd like to continue the alphabet throughout, obviously, but maybe that won't end up being something that works for me. Who knows! For now, it works.

I still haven't gotten to a point where I move someone out of the main house, so I'm also not sure if I want to have game progression or aging on for my played households. That's all something I can figure out as I go along.

Anyways, on to the baby!

Here he is! Yes, it's a boy. His name is August and he is adorable and looks like every other Sims baby to ever be born. His parents absolutely adore him and they had a blast putting his nursery together. That rhino wallpaper was all Erick's idea.

It all comes naturally for Helena, who obviously had to decorate with one of her own paintings. Much stripe, such watercolor.

Things aren't so easy for ol' Erick. Poor guy can't stay standing. Just brush yourself off and try again.

The baby isn't even in the bouncy chair but Chester's heart is growing.

Why does Helena's dad look the most nervous out of everybody? Dude, you've obviously done this before.

Oh. Yeah. This crazy cat lady that calls herself a nanny. We were reallllll nervous about her at first.

*deep breathing* Don't steal our baby. Don't steal our baby. Don't steal our baby.

Oh, good. It's fine. She's fine. August is safe. As far as nannies go, this one was fine. She picked him up a few times, played with the dog. Didn't set the house on fire. All systems go.

August had his birthday and I missed it because sometimes it's really hard to turn on a screen capture program and/or he aged up super fast and I didn't hit print screen in time.

But he's adorable! Look at that pout! Chester loves him!

Erick: Do not look at the pout. Resist the pout. Be firm.

August: Daddy. Come back. Play.

Can we talk about these animations in the game? How cute! I love toddlers!

Just take me out back and shoot me now. I can't handle this cuteness.

Oh, yeah, kids aren't cute all the time. Okay, he's still cute but please stop crying.

Erick's feeling the exhaustion and don't think I don't see that grimace on your face, Helena. You can't just pretend to sleep through the tears.

Aw, these two. Chester, officially meet August. And his giant bowl of peas.

My heart can't take this.

Potty training in this game is surprisingly easy, no? In fact, I think that toddler care in general is a lot easier than in TS2. You don't even have to technically teach them how to walk and talk. And they can do a lot on their own, like somehow reach a bowl of peas sitting on the dining room table, carry said bowl to the couch, then get on the couch and eat the peas without spilling one. Incredible, really.

Helena: And then a giant dragon came to the castle...
August: just pretend to be into it and she'll leave.

Erick: Bottle. Baba. Milk.

Lynn: What is happening here?! Flashcards?! Move over, Erick, let me teach this kid a thing or two.

Um, Lynn? Can I get you some glasses or something? Looking a litttttle squinty there.

August: And then a giant dragon came to the castle!

You sly fox, I see what you did there, stealing your mother's stories.

August, no. Do not touch the toilet. You just had a bath.

And then I finally got around to getting rid of that clay hair. Here's August in all his brunette glory.
