A Granite Falls Weekend | Quickover 3.6

by - November 08, 2018

Previously: We got a creepy new nanny who joined the family for a dip.

It's the weekend and Sai and Beatrix both have birthdays to celebrate so what better way to spend time together as a family than to go camping?

Well, sure, they're going to stay in some pretty nice lodging but they're still in the wilderness! Kind of.

Remember how I said Beatrix would take a more extreme approach to weight loss? Her birthday gift to herself is a dose of Insta Thin. She hasn't been saving all of those aspiration points for nothing, right?!

There are going to be a lot of scenery shots in this post. Not sorry.

It's just so lush!

And here we see Beatrix after taking the potion. She is just so damn beautiful, no matter what size she is.

It's camping and boys and fishing and whatever.

Again with the pointless scenery shit. It's not my fault that every angle is just stunning.

I'm not sure what Beatrix is actually achieving other than walking through every part of the woods but, sure, I'll go with it.

Worn out from fishing, Conrad is taking a little break to look at some clouds. Like you don't have clouds at home, kid?

Beatrix: Honey, come take a picture!
Sai: Am I in frame? Is your hair hiding me too much? Want me to move?
Bea: Nope, perfect, I look great.

Who doesn't love a quick game of horseshoes? Probably these two, who have never played it a day in their lives.

Beatrix: Come on, honey, just try it once. Just to say we did.
Conrad: But Mo-om, there are so many books inside calling my name.

In the spirit of indulging his mother, Conrad throws the horseshoe. Great fun was had for all.

Mere moments later and here he is, back inside, in his happy place.

Annnnnd some more scenery/cute couple pictures:

I really love them.

Up first on this birthday weekend is Sai. No one is paying attention, poor guy.

I love this taunting. Beatrix is absolutely rubbing it into her husband's face that he is so much older than her. Don't worry, girl, your day will come. Like tomorrow.

I'm obsessed with the fact that Conrad's cold weather wear is this bow tie look that we saw a couple of posts ago. Yes, I am lazy with changing children's outfits.

Beatrix is living for these toasted marshmallows.

Telling a story around the fire is Sai's idea of a good time and it is kind of weird how into it he is.

Despite the changes in brightness (I'm not that great at editing when it comes to contrast/light/whatever), this rousing game of Don't Wake the Llama took place even later than the fireside story. Sai thinks he has it in the bag.

Ha. Yeah, right, dude.

Why is there so much dust involved? This game doesn't seem safe. Or has it just been in storage for a super long time? Either way, Conrad is thrilled with his victory.

Who do you think slept in the tent and who do you think snuggled into the warmth and comfort of the actual bed inside?

Yup. Sai is that dad that has to brave the elements and stay in the tent because we are camping, damn it, and that's just what we do! Meanwhile, in the cabin... Conrad and Beatrix are fast asleep.

Sai also has to go hiking, 'cause that's just what you do, despite the unrelenting rain.

It makes for a pretty picture, though!

Beatrix, dear, you're a forensic animator. That's not an easy job. I'm sure you needed lots of education. But you're this confused from a novel? What is going on with you?

Conrad: It's raining! What a glorious day!

Conrad: I love the rain! No problems here!

Conrad: Wait. Is this going to mess up my hair?! Mom!? Get me out of here!

Sai: Welcome to adulthood, my dearest. Have some confetti.
Beatrix: Is there a potion for staying young, too?

There is, Bea, but none for you.

No turning back now.

Here we go: official adult portraits! They grow up so fast.
