Welcome to Henford-on-Bagley | Self-Titled 1 | Swiftacy

Cottage Living has been released and, naturally, I'm using it as a starting point for a brand new legacy: gillysims' Taylor Swift-inspired 9-generation challenge.

The basic premise is this: each generation is based on one of Taylor's albums, with the stories being crafted around certain songs. I like this challenge because some of the generations have different paths that you can take based on different songs or characters in those songs, and the requirements aren't always super strict, leaving more room for interpretation and allowing me to truly play these stories out in fulfilling ways.

My founder, Marion Cornelia (I wanted some sort of connection to Taylor with the last name and "Cornelia Street" is iconic, obviously), is a child at the beginning of our story. Her generation is based on Taylor Swift and, more specifically, the songs "Should've Said No" and "Mary's Song (Oh My My My)." I'll give you all (all five of you, if that) a few installments to figure out what path her story is going to take before I delve deeper into her requirements.

For now, let's meet Marion and her parents and get settled into their lives.

Marion Cornelia: loves the outdoors, loves her daisy chain necklace, and loves comfy clothes and going barefoot. Her life isn't extravagant, but her chickens and her parents and the endless beauty surrounding her house are more than enough.

Charlie and Laurel Cornelia: met at a fair and fell for each other instantly. Marion is their only child and they can't imagine having another like her. She, along with their small farm, are more than enough work.

The Cornelia family lives in Old New Henford, in a cozy home surrounded by trees and close to a stream. Their backyard (or, as the British would call it, their garden) boasts a pond that is loved by ducks and turtles, and they have enough room for some chickens, a cow, and some plots for crops.

Rumor has it, the pond is also home to a few varieties of frogs. Marion is yet to find any, though; they're just a tad too slippery.

First out of the coop in the morning is the rooster, Brownie.

The family's cow, Milkshake, hasn't yet provided them with any, well, milk, but his presence sure does shake up the dynamic a bit.

Joining Brownie are Amelia (the white one), Apple (the brown one), and Salsa (the chick). Marion and Salsa get along incredibly well, even if the little thing does peck at her bare feet sometimes.

Charlie has heard that growing giant crops is quite a daunting task, but he's up for the challenge. He's sowing pumpkin, eggplant (aubergine, rather), watermelon, and lettuce seeds.

In the rare moments that she's inside, Marion has started to try her hand at cross-stitching. So far, she's completed zero projects and poked her finger way more than just once.

Laurel is a big fan of Milkshake. He looks kind of skeptical of her brushing technique, though.

Milking a cow is as hard to master as her cross-stitch pattern. Milkshake was not in the mood and almost instantly kicked the bucket over.

They really ramped up the puns with this pack, that's for sure.

This picture may make it seem like Charlie fared better than his daughter but, alas, still no luck. Your milk will be collected someday, Milkshake.

Who needs to try and milk a stinky cow when you can splash around in the pond? The chickens and ducks aren't the best playmates, but at least they aren't scared off.

In between her preferred outdoor activities, Marion makes time for one or two more stitches. She'll never finish a project at this rate!

Not wanting to spend another second inside, Marion headed over the bridge to the little community garden and picnic area by her house.

Before she could make it there, this little fellow hopped out of his home to check the weather.

Naturally, Marion wasted no time in saying hello, and the little bunny seemed eager to chat.

While they aren't quite friends yet, Marion and the bunny, whom she promptly named Honey Bun, got close enough to exchange a friendly handshake.

Oh. Oh. Well, Marion will just have to brush up on her catered-to-rabbits jokes.

Marion has so much life ahead of her, and I can't wait to follow along on her adventures. Next time, we'll meet her best friend and explore more of Henford-on-Bagley. Her generation requirements won't really start until she is a young adult, but I'm excited to build her story day-by-day and spend as much time as possible with her!
