An Unexpected Holiday Call | Lemonade 5 | Pastel Patisserie

by - August 22, 2021

It isn't long before Canary invites Will back to her place. She's a bit nervous to show him the apartment (she's sure it isn't up to a lawyer's standards), but judging from this reaction, she didn't have anything to worry about. It seems as if he's too smitten with her to even look at his surroundings.

The conversation between these two flows so naturally. They talk about work and their favorite foods (Will is a big foodie), but Canary is sure to steer the conversation away from family-related topics. If her apartment doesn't turn Will off, she's sure hearing about her big, messy family will.

Break out the candles... er, the mouse traps. Will and Canary are about to Woohoo for the first time, and she can only hope a critter doesn't interrupt their good time.

Canary is the definition of "kicking ass and taking names" right now. It feels like her life is falling into place steadily and surely.

'Tis the season for phone calls from Father Winter about... wait, what? Of course Canary will accept! Even though she's advancing in her career, she isn't quite experienced enough yet to worry about terms and conditions. Money, it is!

Well, moodlet, I'm not sure I'd say this always happens to her, seeing as how this is the first time, but okay.

The pressure is on. Will Canary get the man and the money or is she striving for too much too quickly?

Shivering in her pajamas in her barely-heated apartment, though, she can only imagine one outcome: her in a wedding dress with a check waiting at the altar.

It's Winterfest! Canary could not care less about being festive, she just wants the presents.

Just as she was starting to wonder how she'd spend the day alone in the big city, she gets a text from Will. It seems like he's alone, as well, and invites her over to his place to have dinner. Of course, she accepts.

It seems as if he's decided to incorporate a little yellow into his outfit. Hmm... I wonder who could have influenced that choice?

Will cooked up a grand meal of ham with all of the fixings. It's been a while since Canary has had such good food!

After dinner, he whipped out the mistletoe, much to Canary's surprise. She could get used to this romance thing.

Will insisted on singing a quick carol around the tree and, as pointed out before, Canary is not a festive spirt kind of gal, but she sure is faking it pretty well.

Canary wasn't expecting to get anything from Will (okay, maybe she was, just a little bit).

It looks like she's a bit less than thrilled with what was inside, but she won't let her materialistic ways be that evident in front of Will. Yet.

Father Winter showed no signs of having called Canary with a weird inheritance proposition, and she was too thrilled to be getting another gift to be worried about it.

While Will sleeps, Canary takes the opportunity to take it all in: the huge apartment, the view (despite the blinding snow), the fact that she feels so comfortable and at home there. It might not be love yet, but she knows that she met Will for a reason.

So the next morning, they make it official. Will and Canary are dating! With 5 days left to get married for that strange inheritance, it seems like things are falling into place.

How did the news travel all the way back to Brindleton Bay so quickly?

New day, new work outfit, same disgust at the fact that no yellow is involved.

After changing into something a bit more her style, she and Will head to the Humor and Hijinks festival, though they don't do much but talk. Canary even invites him to spend the night, knowing now that her place pales in comparison to his.

The first time Canary visited the city, she tossed a coin into this very fountain. Now, she's doing it again. It worked that time, and she hopes it works now.

As Canary makes breakfast the next day, Will finally starts to see all of the things that need fixed in her apartment.

She explains to him just how bad it really is and he can hardly believe it. He never had to start fresh before and hadn't realized just how uncomfortable it is to live in a place that's cold, with only mice and roaches for company.

While Canary doesn't know exactly what's going on in Will's head, he makes it clear to her that he wants her to be happy and taken care of. How does he make this clear? He tells her that he's taking her on a quick weekend/New Years trip to Sulani!

When she was a kid, Canary thought that living outside of Brindleton Bay was an unreachable dream. Now, she's not only living there, but she's going even further away at the drop of a hat.

Things are really falling into place.

Next time, it's the Sulani Vacation Special! Sun and sand and everything in between!
