Finchwick Fair | Self-Titled 4 | Swiftacy

by - August 22, 2021

Nothing better to start the day with than a fox approaching your front door. We already know this one loves to meander through the house, but Marion successfully distracted it and shooed it away.

While Marion dealt with the wild animals, Laurel started preparing some watermelon salad for a picnic later in the day.

She had to take a quick break to get a kiss from Charlie, of course.

And, naturally, she then roped him into helping out. You can never have too many cooks in the kitchen in this house.

Marion sat out this time, but that didn't stop her from supervising and making sure the dishes passed the smell test.

Marion picked out the perfect picnic table by the river and wasted no time in digging into the food her parents prepared.

Collin and Marcella stopped by for a bite, too!

I love how happy Laurel looks here. Even with her eyes closed, she looks so content with her family and friends and the fresh air.

Moodlet interlude, because I love seeing all of the new ones for this pack:

This world is beautiful and Marion agrees with me.

Back home, a little friend decided to invite himself into the garden.

Whatever he did to help out must have worked, because...

Charlie couldn't help but take a selfie with his first oversized pumpkin! These kinds of crops are always a lot of work, and he sees this garden as something of a second child -- of course he'll be proud of what grows there.

With the sun beating down, the family headed into Finchwick for the Chicken Fair.

Laurel brought along their rooster, Brownie, and entered him into the competition. He looked a bit skeptical of the whole process.

Marion gave the grocery stand owner a Finchwick Favor! It may have just been a single mushroom or berry but the locals are so gracious that they accept everything with a smile.

Eggs waited to be judged on one side of the fair. Well, one lone green egg. I hope that one green egg got the result that it wanted.

Marion made sure to give Brownie a pep talk before judging began. He looked incredibly bored with the whole thing, or he may have been sleeping, but Marion didn't care.

Meanwhile, Laurel played peek-a-boo with this fella. The local behind her certainly didn't jive well with that situation.

The judge, who also happened to be the Major, wasn't very impressed with any of the entries this time around.

Laurel spoke as highly of Brownie as she could, in hopes of a good result.

In the end, a participation ribbon was all that was earned. For the family's first entry, though, they'll take it.

The ducks truly never stop swimming. Nocturnal ducks.

Oh, no! While foxes certainly can be a nuisance, they hadn't been too bad to the Cornelia family yet. Despite running through their house once or twice, they would still be sad if they saw this one reach the end of his life.

While the humans missed seeing Grim, the fox's buddy did not. How sad!

Next time, Marion reaches the next stage in her life and goes exploring with Collin.
